A Conspiracy of Cartographers (2.18)

Nov 30, 2013 15:02

My plan was to have this up much earlier in the weekend. Sorry. But here it is! So much dialogue, most of it written during bouts of exhaustion. Hope it's coherent.

As you might be aware I have left a swooning message over at the site but like I mentioned in that message, this chapter has left me with all kinds of excited/fearful/happy/torn/delighted feelings that even though I am still rather poorly, I must leave my review just now. I do promise to get round to the others as soon as I am back fighting fit but reading this tonight has genuinely made me feel better in a way that I wish I could express in words. I really have felt so down recently, yet one wonderful chapter from you fills me up and makes me smile like nothing else. That is how much your writing/stories mean to me. I love them like I love HP and JKR. Never doubt that. ACOC is and should be considered the genuine account of the Marauders school years and for me, they most certainly are. Right, enough gushing... at least on this matter ( ... )

Okay. Shit. I have had a look at how long my review is and decided that it was probably rather fair of Livejournal to not allow all of that in one post. I need to shorten my reviews clearly.

Blimey, that chapter was full of deep, dark words and events and foreshadowing. So deliciously painful and comforting all at the same time. Amazing how much you managed to pack into that one chapter ( ... )

Thank you! The war is complicated to weave in. Sometimes I would like to just tell the boys' story and ignore the outside world, but I know that's not realistic. And it's only going to get more complicated as the story progresses.

I'm very glad you are making the effort and doing the complicated thing! I really enjoy that realism in your writing. Adds another dimension to all of the characters and makes them come alive. Plus I'm just nosy and want to know more about the world the boys live in.

Late again, but I'm here at last, and once again I admire you so much for being able to write what really should be the official story of the Marauders' years in Hogwarts. Also, I envy _jenc_ for being able to write very long comments, and I agree with all the compliments.

And this time I only saw one typo ("murder" instead of "murderer").

Just a wee message to see if all is well with you? I don't doubt life has simply gotten away from you like the rest of us but as I hadn't seen you around for quite some time, I just wanted to check.

Hope you're well Pica. Thinking of you.
