HA! Poor Mark. I wonder what the writers of this "published piece" think about the popularity of 50 Shades of Grey? lulz
Seriously, though...that was pretty awful. But adorable to watch him read. You got to meet him and made him vegan bread! You rock! Also, does he know YOU write slash? Has he read any of your stuff? :)
He probably knows I write slash, since I haven't been exactly secretive about it on the forums, but I doubt he's read any of my stuff. I'd be a little embarrassed if he did. Although.... I started out visiting Mark Reads when he was still working his way through the "Twilight" series, but I didn't have reliable net access, so I wandered away for a while. I didn't come back until he was on Goblet of Fire, and the reason I came back then was because he had asked people to recommend fics to him, and someone told me that A Conspiracy of Cartographers had been mentioned. Nothing ever came of it, but if Mark was going to read something of mine, I'd probably be least embarrassed about that one.
I know every artist is most critical of themselves, but you really have NOTHING to be embarrassed about. I only discovered it when you posted that he was watching Buffy. Now I am hooked. I read all his "Mark Reads Hunger Games" in the archives, and then followed along while he read Lord of the Rings too. I started reading the archives for Harry Potter, but it got so daunting, the internet already sucks too much of my time away. Lol.
I'm mostly self-conscious about him reading my stuff because I'm a (mostly) straight woman writing gay male romance, and Mark is a gay man. He would have every right to be critical of my writing.
I didn't follow Mark Reads "The Hunger Games" or Mark Reads "Lord of the Rings" because I've never read either of those series, and I gotta sleep sometime. The Harry Potter archives are great. I recommend buying the ebook versions as they come out, since they contain both his newbie reviews and a new set of reviews from his second read. They are so much fun.
