This is so clearly a picture of Remus and Sirius that I can't see it as anything else. The artist was clearly a puppyshipper, or is just messing with me, right?
Haha! Fantastic find. Fandom on the brain is the only sensible way to be *grin*
Admittedly I was under the impression that Christianity abhors all things queer related; at present in this country the Catholic Church is doing all it can to ensure that gay marriage within the Church will not pass through law. I am therefore surprised they haven't excommunicated Saints whom history indicates were gay. Anyway good find like I said and an interesting link.
The Christian Church has a habit of revising history and Biblical interpretation to address whatever are the current issues within the culture. You can bet that, 100 or 200 years ago, few people within the church were even discussing homosexuality on a regular basis. It just was not on their radar.
There are a number of Catholic saints who are read as queer by current standards. There are also passages in the Bible that *don't* get talked about in the context of the morality of homosexuality that probably should be. Have you heard the story of David and Jonathan? You can find it in 1 Samuel 18-20, 23, and 2 Samuel 1. Jonathan, the son of King Saul, loves the heroic shepherd David "as he loved himself", and gives him his birthright. When Saul tries to kill David, Jonathan hides him, and when Jonathan is killed in battle, David writes a lament for him, in which he says that Jonathan's love for him was "more wonderful than the love of women". I have a hard time seeing how anyone could see that as anything other than a queer romance,
