as big as my head

It stopped raining for four hours on Saturday afternoon, so I sped to the allotment and broke my back on the lush, overgrown weeds. ( Words and picture under the cut. )

I keep on getting excited, thinking about getting plants in pots when we move and have outside space to utilise... I want to grow chives, basil, watercress, rocket and lettuce, I reckon. If I can plant all of those things in August/September... I think our flat bit makes for a shady corner, so I doubt I'd be able to grow things like tomatoes or peppers (ignoring the fact that I tend to kill plants very quickly)...

Here's a useful link about shade-tolerant food plants: http://www.rickharrison.com/texts/info/shade_tolerant.html

Looks like lots of things might be possible for your shady corner!

Oooh! Thanks! :-D

Looks like the basil may be happier on a sunny windowsil inside, but other than that, I should be able to have most things I want!

I hadn't even thought about berries!! :-D

(I guess I could put pots in sunnier bits near the flat, too, but they'd technically be in the communal garden there, so I'm not sure if it will go down well... But pots are easy enough to move!)

Mum grows her raspberries in pots and they seem to do very well. You just have to stay on top of the watering...
