It's time for the Southern Agricultural Show again. I have no chutney (we appear to have eaten it all) so I probably won't win any prizes this year. I've entered Plum & Mulled Wine Jam and Blackcurrant & Sloe Gin Jam in the jam class, and Apple Lemon & Lime Marmalade in the marmalade class. Beautiful photos, as ever :-) Sweet peas are so pretty! I used to LOVE them when I was little.

When I think of all the delicious fruit and veg that I get to enjoy for two thirds of the year, I realise that all the back-breaking work is actually worth it.

And yes! Pretty is the exact right word for sweet peas. Mum never grew them in our garden, but I've come to love them since getting the allotment. The fragrance...

Are those blackcurrants in the white baskets? or do you have blueberries too?

They're blackcurrants! I'd need to make a special bed with ericaceous compost for growing blueberries, and actually the hillsides over here are covered in blaeberries (similar to blueberries but smaller) so it's easier just to pick a pound or two of them when I get the urge.
