[Spock attempts to suppress the swell of joy elicited by Saval's words, but is only marginally successful. Though he is loathe to admit it, "dread" seems an appropriate descriptor for his attitude towards Saval's impending departure.] I confess to greatly desiring that you extend your stay on the Enterprise.
*Saval curls his two fingers tightly around Spock's, transmitting a faint, smile-like ripple of warmth through the contact bond.*
That is fortunate, because I will most likely need your help to convince Starfleet to permit me to stay. I am nearing completion of the services I originally agreed to render, and if I am to remain, I will need to think of another way in which I can make myself useful to your crew--ideally, some role that the average Starfleet doctor could not perform in my stead.
[He lightly squeezes Saval's fingers, replying with his own telepathic smile tinged with admiration..]
I will do everything in my power to convince Starfleet that your presence aboard the Enterprise is beneficial to both New Vulcan and the Federation. [While his primary motivation is to keep Saval at his side, it is a task he undertakes in good conscious.] I believe that facilitating further human-Vulcan interaction is exceedingly important to both species. On the medical front, I am less certain of the specifics but confident that your abilities warrant extending your stay. Even Dr. McCoy has conceded you are extremely talented; it was clearly a difficult admission for him to make.
