Dia de los Muertos....

So I got the skinny from the baristas at the cafe. Today is the Day of the Dead in Mexico and many Latin countries. This is a very cool holiday and worthy of a factoid. Again Wikipedia is my friend. This holiday seems to recognize death and honors the lives of the deceased ( Read more... )

Chinese beliefs - In the Chinese tradition, the seventh month in the Chinese calendar is called the Ghost Month (鬼月), in which ghosts and spirits come out from the under world to visit earth.

I remember that when I was young, my granny and mom won't let me out after sunset during that month.

Also, lots of places will play 'Cantonese Opera' for senior and the first play usually won't open for public because that play is particular for those spirits.

FYI, the exact day is the fourteenth day of the seventh month(14/07), in Chinese calendar, when the Door of Hell is opened. ^__^

You know, the art is really neat. I tried to find pictures of the statues and tableaus that are done but there were not any one line. The skeletons are put in very funny situations. Really interesting things. We have these import shops that sell the art here.

Thanks for reading. *huggles*
