Graphicus Rantus Aheadus...

Oh boy. Am I tired of temperamental makers and the way they get in a twist about how you request graphics. This is not rocket science, folks but honestly, my theory is that some of these people are on major power trips with this stuff and their rules. I got denied a graphic today and dared to question why. I am thinking I filled something out ( Read more... )

I don't see what the big deal would be.. If you made a mistake then so what? you made a request for a graphic not a personal loan. I agree with you, a simple comment to you would have been fine.

I've had it happen once where i missed a question on a form and the maker contacted me to find out what my reply was.. how hard can that be?

It turns out my manners were lacking. A simple thank you was not sufficient. I will edit my post but that is still ridiculous.

I may have read it wrong, sorry. but still how can a simple thank you not be enough? more importantly, why wouldn't it be enough?

I don't get some people

I don't get it either. I make graphics and thank you is certainly enough for me. IDK.

A LOTR writer who shall not be named once stated on her journal how angry she got at feedback that was basically "Thanks, I like the fic." MY blood began to boil and someone saved me from making a complete ass out of myself by telling her that they appreciated all feedback, even that which was a simple thanks. I would not have been as nioce in my comment.

We don't need jerks and divas in any creative community.

UM, by the way, would you like to sign up to do art for the OEAM Big Bang? I always enjoy banners and such as art and we still have artist sign-ups open and a few more writers than artists.

I know. I totally know. I let them have it and unsubbed from that comm. I really get tired of the attitude of these makers - gods gifts and all that.

I thought that it had to be original art (as in drawing etc) to do OEAM Big Bang. But I would be happy to lend my graphics talents to the project. Let me know what kind of things you are looking for. I did not know I would be qualified to do that. :) Let me know what you need and I would be happy to make some things.

It can be original art but lots if times, people do blends of characters or something like that.

You can join here (http://oeam-bigbang.livejournal.com/profile) and sign up for art here (http://oeam-bigbang.livejournal.com/1531.html)

You can read the summaries and choose what you'd like to do art for and maybe a second choiuce if that is claimed. Then you can contact your writer and decide what she wants and what you want to do.

We'd love to have you!

How else do you thank someone? I thought, saying "thank you" was thanking me. Perhaps you need to thank them in Spanish or German, or some other language, maybe latin!

See thank you is not thanks enough...more is required and fawning and bowing at their feet. You know, face planting on the ground and stuff like that. I am serious. I think that is what they mean!

This is one of the reasons I got so burnt out on graphics and led me to eventually leave the graphics world all together. It just got ridiculous on how demanding some makers and requesters got. Please and thank you were never enough for some. Some you have to completely kiss ass to make them feel oh so special and show that you REALLY wanted the graphics.

I did meet some great people though through graphics comms. Wouldn't trade that for anything. :D

Funny thing was, I really like her icon and I don't request much anymore. I consider the fact that someone is requesting a compliment to my graphics. This girl wanted "more than a thank you" on the request. Sorry, I don't beg for things.

On my offers - a simple thank you is totally fine with me. Keep it nice and simple. I don't want to have to read a lot.

But you are right, I think kissing ass was involved for this person. Argh.

I do miss your graphics. Your work was always special. :) I still have all your stuff in my PB and use it still.

I have always agreed with kitty's style of graphics making. I took some notes off of her page there. Yep yep. Less is more on the rules thing. And you too, Agie. No rules all the way!
