Redemption - Chapter 10/?

Disclaimers
I’m not an expert on truck chases, horses, or geography (although according to some very basic research, there are caves in southern Kansas.)
There is also some minor bad language in this chapter.

{siiighh} an update from both you and Nativefloridian, within a day or two of each other...lovely... ;)

As always, a good chapter. I liked the level of faith Beck has for Jake when Jake asks him to trust him. They've come a long way, baby (and not just because Jake isn't scruffy at the moment LOL).

Leave it to Jake to know all the hidey-holes in the area.

The ranch near here was owned by my mom’s parents. I used to spend a lot of time here during the summers.

Not to mention all that time he worked for Jonah... :D

And we have a mole...hmmmmm.... *ponders* And loved Beck channeling Hawkins for a moment. He so would - I've said it before and I'll say it again, I find Beck and Hawkins to be two sides of the same coin - their tactics may differ but their reasons are the same.

But - exactly how good of a rider are you?

“I can hold my own.”

I...I need a moment {lovely visions of Beck on horseback dance in my head...}

“Well, we’d probably have to ride bareback. We’d also need to tame them first. It’s not like in the ( ... )

I actually was thinking of him as a teenager using this cave with teenage girls. (I guess that shows where my mind is!) Good point with the Jonah connection. I had forgotten about that.

I agree with you. The Beck, Hawkins, Jake dynamic intrigues me. They all have the same goals but different methods for achieving them. Obviously Beck and Hawkins are more disciplined, but as Jake matures, he can hold his own with them. I haven't been able to work Hawkins into this story (at least not yet), but as you can tell, this story focuses a lot on the Jake/Beck dynamic.

I...I...I need another moment...{Beck riding bareback; working on a ranch...during a hot summer day...guuuhhh...) Thanks for putting that image in my head!! I was so focused on the plot and ( ... )

Oh, I have no doubt he used that cave with teenage girls!! This is Jake, after all! ;D

They all have the same goals but different methods for achieving them. Hmmmm...I agree with you on this point by the end of season 2, but I respectfully disagree (slightly) when it comes to season 1 ( ... )

Don't worry - I don't have much of a life these days either. And I'm fine with it for now!!

I completely agree with you. My statement around Beck, Jake, and Hawkins sharing the same goals was at the end of Season 2 and into Season 3 (as through the Comic Book or all of our fan fics!) By that point, they were all focused on saving the country from the ASA.

Before that, their goals were divergent. Jake's goals broadened from Season 1 into 2 and beyond, from his family, to Jericho, to his country. Hawkins contributed a lot to that, although some of it grew out of Jake's own experiences (e.g. his mental conversations with his grandfather in Sedition where he talks about Revolution).

I also agree with you about the internal focus of the people of Jericho in Season 1. Of course, the cynical side of me thinks that might have been due to the desire of CBS to keep production costs low!
