The Death of Cyberpunk

The problem is time really, time has allowed cyberpunk to become reality. When Cyberpunk was fresh (1980 - 1990s) the idea of having technology everywhere was completely outrageous. Everything had to be wired and your computer needed to weight in at over 5lbs. Now we have laptops that are small enough to put in your pocket, cellphones that not only do calling, but scheduling, alarms, personal accounting, games, and hell if you pay enough it can dial for you ( ... )

cyberpunk is dead.

it has been replaced with cyberpop, cyberrap, and cyberemo.

I actually have a cybercountry song but on a whole I would not say the genre as a whole has made the leap.
