He rolled in the sheets, purring very cat-like, a small, satisfied smile forming on his full lips.
Only when he heard some suspicious, whooshing sounds he realized that there was something -someone who was moving cautiously in the room around him.
With a frown on his sleepy face, he rubbed his eyes while moving to sit up, bare back against the cool surface of the headboard. His vision was blurred due to the many hours of sleep, so he tried to open up his narrowed eyes a bit more in order to get a better view of the slim figure which was wandering back and forth across the room.
“Mika?” he mumbled, lifting a hand to his forehead to protect his eyes from the weak rays of sun.
“Late”, she answered quickly, collecting a piece of cloth from the floor before making her way towards the bathroom hurriedly in a pair of jeans and bra.
He stared at white door for a fair amount of time, blinking in confusion. His eyes moved to the alarm clock on the bedside table and, only after he completely assured himself about that day’s date, did he start to laugh quietly, covering his mouth with a hand.
The door of the bathroom opened with a loud thud, reviling a very anxious, extremely stressed-out version of the dark haired woman.
“Mika, calm down”, Aoi giggled.
“Excuse me?!” She yelled at him, collecting a purple hoodie from the chair. “I’m almost an hour late because I fucking overslept and-“
“You would have overslept if you actually had had to go to work today”, the man interrupted her, still chuckling from his sitting position.
At his words, she stopped dead in her tracks, hoodie dangling from her right hand. She looked as a brick had fallen directly on her head.
“What…?” She murmured, pouty lips slightly parted.
“Mika”, Aoi started, sighing at her thoughtlessness like a mother to her teenaged son. “It’s the fifteenth today.”
“So what?”
He looked for a bunch of seconds at her, probably waiting for her to smart the answer out. When it was clear enough that she was likely not to, he opened his mouth to speak.
“Oh, God!” She suddenly gasped, covering her mouth with a hand, eyes widening in both shock and shame.
The guitarist burst into laughter at her reaction. “It’s odd, though. You’ve been talking about it for a couple of weeks.”
“I know”, she whined, hiding her face in the palms of her delicate hands. “Shit…” She groaned, sitting at the edge of the bed.
Giggling, he moved closer to her, wrapping his strong arms around her.
“Ssh”, he whispered, placing a chaste kiss on her head. “It can happen.”
“I’m so stupid”, Mika complained, leaning onto him, face still hidden in her hands.
The dark haired man smiled sweetly in apprehension, knowing that she wasn’t able to see him.
“You’re just stressed out and forgot that your nice little pause would begin today. Come, come back here”, he sighed, taking the woman more tightly in his arms and bringing her down with him.
And even though none of them was able to fell asleep again, they just pretended to, clung in each other’s arms, breathing against each other’s skin.
