Beth sat on Riley's couch, her camera bag open and bits of equipment scattered around her and on the coffee table. She was cleaning her SLR, something methodical to do. Something she could control. It had been good seeing Lachlan's parents again. She was emotionally exhausted though. Just watched the court case had her on edge, so she could only ( Read more... )

Riley was mid yawn when he unlocked the front door to his apartment. He'd had a good run from New York and never much minded driving long distances, which was a good thing considering he woul be making the trip once a week for the moment.

He found Beth in the living room and smile as he put his keys down on the table and kicked his shoes off. "You're still up," he said quietly and leaned over to give her a small kiss before dropping onto the sofa and putting his feet up on the coffee table.

"Can't really sleep until I've packed all this away," she replied as she matched his quiet tone. She leaned forward and moved the lens away from his foot. "How's Tab?"

Beth was assuming he'd caught up with his sister. She didn't see Riley as the type to not drop in on his second half if he was in the city.

"Yeah, she's good." Riley folded his hands over his stomach and they rose and fell with his breathing. "I kind of have a confession to make. I went to New York for a therapy session, with a therapist who specialises in healthcare staff with needlestick injuries. I didn't tell anyone because I was worried it wouldn't go well."

Beth stopped fiddling with the lens cloth and looked at him. Her lips parted a little in surprise, but then she recovered and shifted so she could look at him better. "So does that mean it went well?"

Riley sighed. "I was going to see if she wanted to come to the Karaoke night," he said and crinkled his nose up. "She's offered for him to play with her band, but if he won't even pick his own guitar up, I doubt he'll agreed to going to New York to get up on stage. He won't leave Tara very long while she's on bed rest anyway. She told me hung his wet towel over it. His guitar, Beth. He wouldn't even let bloody Martin breathe on it when I was over there. She said his dad suggested piping to him, Lachlan just said he was too tired."

"Maybe just going to New York would be good for him regardless? Change of scenery and all that... It might help just watching your sister play." Beth shrugged helplessly as she covered her mouth with her hand. Lachlan putting a wet towel over his guitar was not a good sign at all. "I dinnae know what else can be done. I've nay seen Lachlan like this ever."
