"Hopefully tomorrow," Riley replied with a small smile. "I still don't feel the best. Apparently that's normal."

He lifted his hand up to untangle the IV line from around his wrist. "What have you been up to? Not smacking Lachlan in the face with a pillow on my behalf, by chance?"

She shrugged and her smile returned. It was nice to see him smile like that. She'd missed it. "Of course you wouldnae feel the best, but at least you dinnae look like a ghost."

Beth gave a shake of her head. "Hovering, mostly. I cannae say there's much else for me to do. I dinnae want to bother Lachlan and his bride, I cannae say I felt like finding a hotel room to go and be alone in again. I just wanted to make sure you were okay, love. Now that your sister's returned I'll leave you be."

"It's really Vodka inmy IV, but shh, otherwise everyone will want it," Riley joked. His eyes searched over her face and he folded the sheet carefully down across his stomach. "I don't want you to leave me be," he said softly.
