from the linux geek - screen

I should x-post this all over the geek world but as with most things geek, it's hard to find anyone who cares.  People are either all "been there done that" or they're all "Why would I want to do that?".

I'm enthusiastic about this though because it's something I've needed and should have learned long ago.  I should be doing my Spanish homework, but ( Read more... )

I should learn more about networking.
I have three machines in this office sharing the internet via a router, but, I have no connection between the three machines.
I'd like to get them all to use one printer.
I really know near nothing about networking machines, though.
I'm sure I can get them playing with eachother through the router, but, I have no clue how.
And, if the printer was connected to the router, that would work, too.
As it is, to print stuff, I sometimes e-mail documents from one machine to another, or move them with a USB key.
Actually, there are two printers here, but, one machine is without printing (unless via the above methods).

Are all of the machines running Linux? If they're all running Ubuntu (I think Debian and Mint too), print sharing is actually amazingly simple. There's a graphical tool in the print settings. (Be careful not to give the entire internet print authority though, that might cause some security problems ( ... )
