[ Maria's freaking out a little, she hadn't been in Mayfield for long and now it was a wasteland. It looked like pictures out of a text book for when people were in a nuclear arms race. Thankfully she's not hurt just a little shaken up. ]

B. [ Day 2 - near the highway]

[ Walking near the highway Maria noticed a group

[ Resting was also on Firo's mind as he dragged himself to the park. The radiations and keeping an eye out for cannibals were starting to take their toll.

He spots Maria and decides to approach her. She doesn't look like one of those crazes cannibals and it would be nice to have some civil, human company even from a stranger. ]

I don't mind, I haven't really seen anyone around so at least seeing one person is awesome.

Yeah, me neither. I guess most of 'em are hidin' from those crazy things out there.

Those monsters aren't very nice, I barely made it out alive.

I thought talking to them would explain some things but that wasn't a very good idea.

You tried to talk to 'em..?

[ He blinks and then stares at her in a mixture of confusion and amazement. All it took was one look at their weapons and he was on the offensive. He didn't hang around to chat or anything afterwards, either. ]

Well I thought they were friendly, then they started chasing after me even though I said sorry. Not very awesome at all.

Guess next time I'll know not to try and talk to them!

Yeah, they don't really seem like manners are high priority for 'em.

[ He can't help but laugh at her last statement. ]

I guess you're lucky; you got out with a valuable lesson and your skin still attached.

I'm glad that I was able to get away, if I didn't then it would be really sad for someone I know.

I don't really want to put them through anything like that.

[ He glances away, his smile fading. ]

Are they here? How come you're not with 'em?

I haven't found her yet, but I'm sure she's somewhere in this town.

Have you seen her in Mayfield at all?

I haven't, but I just know she'll show up. It's really only a matter of time hopefully.

[ He pauses, not so eager to burst her bubble. ]

You can never trust Mayfield. It'll be better for her if she never comes.

Not being here might be for the best but even if bad things happen I don't think she would be able to stand anything happening to me.

I don't want her to get hurt because of me though. So I just need to stay out of trouble for the most part.
