hey guys. I really have a problem.

I'm not sure what you mean by "this". You mean, it opens with a transparent layer instead of a background layer?

File -> New or ctrl/cmd + N
Then from the drop-down list Background Contents choose White, Background or Transparent

And if you want the grey area around your image and don't want the full screen image, reduce the zoom level at the top (currently set at 66.7%)

Everything else looks fine, but I use CS4, so maybe I'm missing something.

I guess she means that no image is appearing, because she writes that she also gets a transparent background when she drag&drops a file/image into PS.

Oh, that's the one thing I didn't notice, the background pic in navigation. Sorry!

Sometimes it helps to turn off the Enable OpenGL Drawing feature under Preferences.
edit->Preferences->General->Performance -> disable "Enable OpenGL Drawing", press OK.
