Baby Anxiety??

Apr 06, 2009 12:56

I have baby fever bad. I've even been recently having dreams about having kids. I feel so torn. We have an OK savings but I still think its not enough. Yes we have a home. Yes we both have jobs. Yes we have health insurance Do you think its smart to have a baby if you aren't completely financialy stable??

Hi Chrissy!!

I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to have a baby now. Homes, jobs, health insurance...all very necessary. What is complete financial stability anyway? With pregnancy and a child come responsibility and rearanging your priorities, instead of buying that one thing for yourself or going out to dinner a few times a month, you just dont. You use that money for your child. I personally think the mentality of waiting for the next best thing or the perfect situation is dangerous....what if the "perfect storm" never comes?

P.S. don't let my icon fool you. I am not pregnant. Just using some LJ communities to do a little business research for www.terrababy.com.

be well lady!

I've made some bad decissions in my life. I just don't want to screw up this one. I'm trying to let go and let it happen naturally but i'm a planner. Ed would have had me prego like 6 months ago if he had the chance. I keep telling him that we are not ready but it's not so much that i'm not ready but I'm really scared!

What are you scared of exactly?
Being pregnant is the easy part compared to child rearing...
I mean, it takes sacrafice, big time. It's no longer about you - it's about this little one(s). I get so sick of "Me time" complaints... from these self proclaimed "moms". I'm sorry but I didn't have a baby to have more "me time" - I'll get that when they're out of the house.

I got pregnant with Landon when I wasn't financially stable...and I'm still not. Heh. I don't think there's a perfect setup for baby making. It's not fair to a lot of people. If we all had to be financially stable for babies there would be a lot of sad people.

I don't think we all have to be financially stable. I just don't have the confidence in myself right now.

we planned to not plan, but i knew we were ready for whatever came out of it.

i don't know if you can really even be "ready" to be a mom the more i think about it... i mean how do you know you are ready for an unknown?

i can tell you one thing, it's definately not boring... my cousin was complaining about monday today, and i said oh everyday is monday to me. so she said why? cause you never get a break? and i said no cause everyday is a new beginning... and really as cheesey as it sounds, is how i look at it
