I worked as a props artisan for many years and one of my more challenging shows was Sweeney Todd. If you aren't familiar with the show, it deals with a man driven insane by carefully-crafted evidence provided a crooked judge, who wanted Sweeney's wife, and sent to jail. A very clever trick and very effective, especially for a theatre audience, but it works close up the photo too.
