Counterintuitive - LJ Idol

Since transitioning out of an emergency environment on the ambulances and into transfers, the degree of sheer ridiculousness I have to deal with has skyrocketed. My agency does any non-emergency transfer into or out of a hospital in the better part of three counties. That contrast between the two types of people needing your help is so evident. It is so much more pleasant to work with someone who appreciates us than to deal with those who feel entitled and only complain. Well written.

Wow. Such big numbers there. I remember a few years ago my husband was working with a company which manufactured hospital equipment and they were having to manufacture larger sized beds and hoists because the patients were simply too heavy for the regular ones. It's a sad indictment of how big we've become...

Good for "Mr James". I applaud his determination.

Wow. A good attitude will always do you miles better than a bad one. My grandfather is determined not to do ANYTHING for himself anymore, and it's sad because otherwise he's really in pretty good physical condition. For a 91 year old, most patients would be happy to be in his shape and would be trying to walk little bits here and there.

My back is awful though- grandpa's only about 170 lbs now, but there's no possible way I could carry him, even with two people. Bodies are difficult to get around!

While it make me feel better that I'm not that size ... it also makes me more determined to keep trying to lose.

Some people are so entitled and never think of others. As an over weight person I'd be horrified if someone had to carry me out of my apartment, and I am under 300 pounds.
