The latest attempt by the "pro-family" right to "protect" us is trying to hold cable (basic and pay) broadcasters to the same standards as the regular channels.

what we need is more parents being responsible... for their kids and themselves. I watch Sex and the City reruns on TBS. i don't let my kids watch it. i watch scifi action shows that have a lot of fight scenes and mature situations (mature being responsible adult things to talk about). i don't let my kids watch that either, which is why i tape them at 3 in the afternoon and watch them when the kids are asleep.

i do pay attention to what they are watching. my younger one still watches the kiddie shows and cartoons on WHYY, NJN, and Disney. my older one watches some of the disney shows for older kids too. while i haven't seen all the episode of all the shows, i know that That's So Raven and Lizzie McGuire are shows that are ok for preteens. and if an isstue comes up, i'd like to think she'll ask me about it.

and no, my kids did not watch Barney. Barney is a dinosaur, he should be extinct!
