Have you read anything else by Sean Stewart? I suggest Resurrection Man next.

So far I have Nobody's Son, Cloud's End, Perfect Circle, and this one under my belt. Nothing's quite matched the perfection that is Nobody's Son (though this may be because my favorite flavor of SF/F is fairytale-influenced) but I've loved it all. I was thinking of hitting Resurrection Man next, so thanks for the validation! :)

I didn't see any other Stewart reviews on your site, so I assumed. :) But then again, I keep forgetting this site is a relatively new one!

LOL, I'm still relatively new to book reviewing, period! I don't think I've written any other reviews of Stewart's work. . . shame on me! I love plugging authors most people haven't heard of! :)

I had a bit of trouble understanding the shaper talent too. But I still love this novel so much. I love empath and telepath stories, and grand stark language, and grittiness. This and The Night Watch are probably my favourite of all Sean Stewart's works.

I think I would have loved this novel more if I were in a different mental space. And if I had just sat down with it and read it in an afternoon (my usual practice) rather than reading a chapter here and a chapter there for a MONTH.

Haven't gotten to The Night Watch yet. . . gotta read Resurrection Man first!
