I really know what you mean about the whole homophobic thing... and it's not even that someone makes a comment like that it's that someone would even think that or be that insensitive. Although I'm not bi or lesbian, I am part Jewish and its a similar kind of thing. 10 bucks they've never got that dent out of my old locker (I got really mad someone was telling anti-semetic jokes in one of my classes). I hope the rest of the trip was better than the 3rd day!
By the way, if I ever need help in Spanish, I plan on asking you.
It's good to have you back. And the trip sounds interesting so far -- Spain sounds great. Wish I knew some Spanish so I could not be so touristy if I ever visit. (Though I guess I could muddle through thanks to my French, maybe.)
And I understand about the homophobia, though I usually only experience it second-hand what with being the only straight in my school's unofficial gay crowd. But I know what you mean. I experience that kind of homophobia a lot, and often, from people I really like. It sucks incredibly. **hugs** Hope you feel better.
And I agree with you, too, about wanting to make the world a better place.

there's less in germany too. and the toilets have a little like, shelf, in them. so stuff doesn't go down, it lands on the shelf.
i read in a book that it's because germans are obsessive about their health, so they like to look and see if anything's unusual when they're done.
also, i never much liked las meninas, but velasquez is amazing otherwise. that particular painting never really did it for me, although isn't it really big? because david's napoleon coronation never did it for me either, but seeing it at the louvre, when it's about as big as one of the walls of the gym, yeah, that's impressive.
i envy your prado visit. i want to go there. after i go to the national gallery in london and the met (again) and moma.

Yep, I'm taking Art History. Along with English AP, Spanish 6 AP, Calculus, and French I. And Creative Writing.
No, I'm not suicidal, why do you ask?
And Las Meninas in person is actually quite impressive, especially when you have a highly competent tour guide who can explain to you exactly why it's so fascinating.
