I vaguely remember hearing something about Microsoft and Yahoo having agreed to make their networks interoperable, but I can't remember where I heard that, so I could be making it up...
That was a fairly widespread press release over the past year or so, that the two of them had agreed to do so, and the ad copy for the recent versions of both clients bears it out.
I only wish there was an _easy_ way to merge the contact lists, instead of having to add the new ones in by hand.
