My dear, I am so very sorry - you must be beside yourself with worry and grief! I wish I could do more than offer virtual hugs (and a shoulder to rant on - anytime you need it). I won't tell you everything will be okay, but you are doing the right thing by being with her as much as you can. Just remember you need to take care of yourself, too, or you won't be able to be strong for your friend.
When something like this happens it never seems to make sense. It's cruel that her daughter may lose a mother and you may lose a "sister". It's tragic that she's so young and hasn't had a chance to do all she may have wanted in this life - including watching her little girl grow up. From your friend's point of view, however, it sounds as though she's already endured a life-time of pain. Maybe the PTB think she's earned a better life in the next world? I don't know, but I'll be keeping all of you in my thoughts.
