#1 Doesn't Come First?
Boom is currently wrapping up Salem: Queen of Thorns, a comic that caught my eye a few weeks ago when I was at Austin Books. Featuring a Solomon Kane-like character, and being from Boom (who I've been paying attention to lately), I figured why not give it a shot and grabbed issues 1-3 (4, the last release in the mini-series) isn't out yet).
Unfortunately, sitting down to read the comic left me very confused after a couple of pages and feeling like a moron once I finished the first issue. Hitting the web, I find Salem: Queen of Thorns #0, which is actually the first release. What? I remember when #0 comics started up, but I didn't realize that they were now so common that they're considered the new #1.
Very frustrating. Especially since the local stores don't have #0. So now I get to go online to grab the missing issue.
I really need to remember to research these things before buying. I mean, I could have easily checked Google while standing in the store and found out right then that #1 wasn't really the first release. But no, I had to be impulsive and decide "I'll try something new."
I'm an idiot.
