Tropefic meme: the final tally and the one that got away

*wipes sweat from brow* So you all really like tropefic, I see :-). Especially bodyswap, it seems. I have never previously written bodyswap fic; now I've done four. It's a fascinating trope, one that made me think a lot about where I draw the line between mind and body, and why. *laughing* The ghost of a sorcerer in the Hall of Mirrors! The stroke of midnight! Alys and Cordelia! Alys's younger sister! And all of this! This is fantastic. :-)

Alys's sisters are shamefully neglected in canon and fic!

And all the servants saw was Cordelia kissing Aral, albeit in a somewhat abbreviated fashion, but that was probably a relief. And then being unusually solicitous of the Chief of ImpSec, but Aral was standing right there, so it must be fine. Though they probably all know the story of the sorcerer and attribute all peculiar behaviour there to him.

I agree! I've been thinking of fic about them myself, recently. In the Reconstruction 'verse, but then that one seems to inhabit my head... or perhaps in the Miracles' verse, where they can be the scary Cetagandan-fighting team...

And yes, bodyswap is the best trope ever! I am now tempted to write all sorts of bodyswap crackfic. Including Vlad/Suegar ;-) Admittedly, it's a lot easier when you have the Force as Plot Device, but ghostly sorcerers also work very well.

The Force is the best plot device! I've had potions and dream travels and no explanation at all, but I think I like the sorcerer's ghost best.

Thanks! Yes, this all started off because as soon as I was asked for bodyswap, the question of whether the chip goes with the mind or stays with the body it's in comes front and centre, and it seemed to me that it had to stay. Which meant I got to write Aral's experience of it, plus Simon's thoughts on not having it around for a while. I'm glad you liked it!
