varied fannish excitement

1. I watched the first episode of the new season of Scott & Bailey and was reminded again of just how much I love these characters. Gill! Rachel! Janet! Excellent police procedurals where the main characters are all women! Still want a good crossover with Rivers of London, too ( Read more... )

I do envy you for the Scott & Bailey dose. But I'm very pleased that it reminds you of why you love them. I can't wait to see more of them! :)

The chapter. *dies* Oh gosh. It scares me how much I love Peter & Nightingale (and Varvara & Molly!). --- It does kill me inside just a little to think that we'll see less of it in the later chapters. But. Oh this is good. <3
Thank you for sharing the link! :)

The digital radio in Nightingale's bathroom! Nightingale and Peter trying to drink Varvara under the table (I mean seriously, did they not go 'hey, hundred-year-old RUSSIAN witch, she's got to have a cast-iron liver by now'). Molly and her dangerous packed lunch! And another Ettersberg survivor... yeah, I'm having a hard time waiting.

*grins* My first reaction to the radio was "and how do you know where his radio is and when he's listening to it?" ('I was listening to the radio while I was shaving' does not strike me as the sort of thing you'd say in a conversation.) - My reaction to the sheer naivety of trying to drink Varvara under the table was quite the same. And I do love Molly. Rarely matters just what she gets up to. Although showing Peter her teeth's a special favourite of mine. :)

Yes, there is that. I mean, I can come up for some non-slashy explanations, but they'd still make good stories.

Molly is just wonderful and I love her.

I'm wondering whether it was Peter and his heavy-drinking-copper culture that gave him confidence, or Nightingale's regimental-and-rugby-club-dinner culture. Either way, big mistake.

You're welcome! The interview where he did the reading was on Youtube, and I made a transcript of it on DW, but it's good to have the corrected and extended version now.

Aaronovitch posted part of the first chapter on his site here

OOH. Thanks for that. It's a darn shame I'm on my way to bed -- but here's to tomorrow, lol.
