It almost makes me want to say YAY HATRED for the fact that it inspired you... err, but that's not right at all. ;) YAY, instead, for spinning negativity into something positive. <3

Also, I'm not deeply involved in the HP fandom, but the excessive, relentless Ginny hate? I've never understood that.

I actually don't know yet if I have the time. But it seems low-key so most likely I'll sign up. I'm also trying to orient through the rules of the challenge - where to post, mostly - so I need to figure that out first.

What are you planning to do?

Yeah, the low-key aspect is part of what lured me in too. And yet it's still daunting! *grin*

It looks like there's going to be a community for this. akzseinga said she's still figuring out the details, but was asking for any suggestions in her latest post.

I've signed up for Cassie and Bela and have a few different ideas for both involving recs, fic, perhaps picspams and a little meta. Not sure if I'll come up with enough to cover each day of the week, but I'm hoping that won't be a problem with so many participants already.

It's a great project!

I wish there was a way to do it in RPF fandoms, too, but since the "woman that the fandom hates" is often a SO who is not a celebrity herself, I would never want to call for more attention, any kind of attention, to them.

Are you going to participate?

Definitely! Pro-women and pro-unsung characters... gotta love that. :)

Ah, that's a good point. But you're right, there is a lot of ridiculous hate put upon those SOs. And in both cases, RPF and FPS, I think a lot that hatred stems from jealousy.

Yep, I signed up to cover Bela and Cassie from SPN. How about you?

I'm not involved in fandoms outside of RPS, so I'm just going to cheer from the sidelines :).

Hey, cheering is always good. (Will there be pompoms? Just kidding.) :)

That's pretty awesome. SPN has plenty of women that fit that criteria and I love them all. Well except for Ruby 2.0 but I hate her less with time.

Apparently nearly ALL of them. LOL This fandom. *shakes head* There's so much intense love and hate, you'd think fandom would implode upon itself.

I've been up and down about Ruby. I preferred her snark and kickassery (it's a word; shut up, spellcheck) in S3 when Katie played her, and missed the lack of those in Genevieve's version. But Ruby 2.0 was still an interesting character. By the end of S4, I kind of hated her for what she'd done to the boys. But at the same time, it was never the HATEFUL hate... and I could still enjoy her overall arc and the way the writers depicted her secret manipulation. Unlikeable characters make for interesting characters.

Also, I firmly believe it's fine to dislike a character. But you and I both know this fandom (and others -- as evident in the insanely long tags list at the womenlovefest comm) take it well beyond simple dislike.
