I've now seen 'scientific proof' that economics makes your 'evil' and that it makes you nice. Possibly all this proves is that economists are people too! :-)
It was a book review from many years back that a friend pointed out to annoy another friend who had studied economics. A trawl round t'interweb indicates that the book was Moral Markets.
There was some psychology study in it that measured folk on an altruistic to selfish scale. Economics students scored more selfish after they had completed their degree than they did before starting it. So studying economics makes you 'evil' :-)
