Keynesian experiment

Behind the cut are two polls, each with ten possible answers, and twenty photographs of beautiful women. (Bear with me, this is all in the interests of science (well, economics at least.) And it's all safe for work ( Read more... )

By the way, the results are visible to all - not the details of who voted, but the totals - so it's possible to cheat. (That is, assuming that "most popular answer" means "most popular in this poll," not "most popular according to some international poll conducted last year." Not that I did; I only saw the answers after I'd voted.

But now you need to give us some male eye candy, too. :-)

Seeing the results (but not who voted for them) is (sort of) part of the experiment.

I didn't define what "most popular" means, but as far as winning the prize goes, it has to do with a wider sample than just the people taking this poll.

Keeping this as female eye candy only keeps true to the original piece of economics from Mr Keynes. If you want to conduct your own similar poll using male eye candy for your own purposes, feel free...

Hmmn, I'd been wondering whether it was something to do with game theory or something, but if it depends on a wider sample then I'm not sure. Still, the advantage of being so late to things should mean I don't have to wait so long for the explanation, with any luck! (goes to read ahead.)

Incidentally, nobody has the prize yet. You need to get both answers right to claim it.

(Oh, and one person only voted in the second poll. Don't know if that was deliberate or not.)

Aaah, I had assumed that you'd simply split the poll into two parts due to limitations in the LJ polling system.

Also, that's an awful picture of Kate Winslet.
