Dedication: For elysium1996. A little while ago I put out a plea for help with my last five varietypack100 prompts and elysium1996 asked for Larry/Megan where she decides to leave the FBI. Again, I amended it slightly, but still hopefully what she was thinking of. Thanks for the prompt and the lovely, lovely reviews! You are one of the sweetest things fandom has ever brought me. You make me smile and laugh nearly daily. And, I love that I was a bad influence on you. Hugs, love, and lots of chocolate!!

“Did you know that reflective prisms were left on the moon by astronauts from the Apollo 11, 14, and 15 missions as well as the Soviet Luna 21 robot mission?”

Long since used to Larry’s seemingly non-sequesters, Megan rolled onto her back on the blanket they had spread out for their midnight picnic and stared at the low hanging moon above. She knew that he would get to something profound eventually, so she encouraged him, “No, I didn’t. Why did they do that?”

“To study the physical librations of the moon and the moon’s rotation.” Larry laid down next to her, his head resting against hers, “However, I have another theory.”

“Oh,” there was an indulgence smile in her voice.

“I believe that they were left so that we would have an eternal reminder that we left this world and touched another heavenly body. That man that walked this earth also left footprints in the moon dust.”

Megan was now interested, “Wouldn’t the pictures and videos be the greatest reminder?”

“Those are stagnant memories. Moments locked on celluloid and filament. This, this is an interactive living reminder,” his gestured to the orb above.

“How? It isn’t like you look at the moon and see the prisms sparkling.”

“Well, perhaps not here, perhaps not with the eye, but they do sparkle and we 384403 kilometers from them can see them, if we are looking. Strong lasers pointed at the moon will be reflected back. These reflections prove that man was there. That we’ve influenced and changed something that was seemingly out of our grasp just fifty years ago.” Larry leaned up on an elbow and looked down at her, “Megan, my own heavenly body, please know that you’ve reached this heart that seemed out of anyone’s grasp for many years and left your own mark, your own prism upon it. No matter have far you are from me, when you turn your light towards me it shall be reflected back.”

A tear rolled down her cheek and dropped to the blanket below, “I don’t want to leave you.”

“I understand, my nebula, but you must. You must leave this place, this job before it destroys you and implode like a supernova.”

“How did you know?”

He brushed away her tears, “Your eyes have been haunted since your return from the assignment with the DOJ. I was just wrapped up in my own angst of returning to the earthly coil that I missed it at first. Our trip east confirmed it.”

“I don’t want to leave you,” her fingertips brushed against his face.

“If being on two different celestial planes did not separate us, then I doubt a few hundred miles will have any ill effects. You do what you must, you go where you must, and when the light has returned to your eyes shine it again towards me. I shall reflect it proudly back.”

“We will have to reflect on each other, cause you’ve left a prism on my heart as well,” Megan raised up just enough to met his lips in a tenderly passionate kiss.

Slowly unpacking the last box that represented her life thus far, especially her life in LA, Megan found an unfamiliar box. Pulling the dark blue, velvet box from it resting place, Megan carefully cracked the lid open. Nestled inside was a beautiful crystal heart. Her own heart caught for a moment at the sight of it. As she removed it from the velvet cushion, it was caught in the rays of the early summer light streaming in the open windows. Suddenly the room was filled with sparkling rainbows and incandescent light.

There was no card, but Megan knew who the gift was from. She carefully hung the crystal prism at her bedroom window so that she would wake bathed in its light and his love each morning.
