Out of the possibly hundred of first kisses Don Eppes had experienced, he could only remember four. These were the four that changed his life.
One. Becky Williams. He kissed her behind the concession stand at his first little league playoff game. He was nine and suddenly girls didn’t have cooties. Plus, they won that series.
Two. Robbie Marks. He kissed him in their hotel room on his very first road trip with his travel league. He was sixteen and discovered that boys could feel as good as girls. Plus, they sweep that season.
Three. Agent Billy Cooper. He kissed him inside a beat up pick-up truck that smelled like fast food and frustration. He was twenty-four and understood that sometimes sex was just sex, but that sometimes it was something more. Plus, they had the best recovery rate in their region.
Four. Melinda Reeves. He kissed her in his childhood room while her sister/his colleague’s engagement party went on downstairs. He was thirty-seven and still waiting for his ‘something more,’ but knew how to enjoy himself in the meantime. Plus, they were both adults.
