Don heard the whir of the fans on the air hockey table and the sound of a puck bouncing lazily off the sides. Entering the garage, he was surprised to see Larry standing at the far end of the table completely alone in the room.
“Hey, Lar,” Don moved to the table and picked up the other mallet. “Up for a game?”
Larry looked up and smiled, “That would be very agreeable.” He paused the puck with his mallet and side it towards Don.
For several minutes the clicks of the plastic puck against the plastic mallets were the only sounds in the garage. When the score was two to one in favor of Larry, Don finally spoke, “So, how’s Megan?”
“She’s doing quite well. Her Physical Therapist is pleased with both her and Alania’s progress.”
Don nodded, “That’s good, but I was thinking more emotionally.”
“Oh,” Larry paused the puck. “We’re doing all right. Millie’s been an asset and we’ve been talking to a therapist. She’s looking forward to being an aunt again, Don.”
Don smiled, “You looking forward to being an uncle?”
“More than you know,” Larry sent the puck sailing across the table and into Don’s goal.
