I for one am glad that the David E. Kelley Wonder Woman series appears to have been picked up. The movie rights have been held for over a dozen years by producers who never did anything with it apparently for fear of doing it imperfectly ( Read more... )

Have to agree with "bluefall" on this point. I think it's because they're not sure how to make several billion dollars on the movie through merchandising.

Seriously, they had toys from "The Dark Knight" movie at Toys'R'Us. Did any little kids even understand the film? Probly not, but when they went to the store they said "Hey, Mommy, I want that cool looking Batman!"

With Wonder Woman, I think they're more afraid that the toys and happy meals won't sell more than they're afraid of ruining the character. Hollywood sure wasn't afraid of ruining the Green Hornet (which wouldn't have been so bad if they made a new character instead of making a pre-existing character a parody of his own self).

Convince some executive at Warner Bros. that they'll sell a trillion barbie dolls and t-shirts and the movie will be in theaters this summer before Green Lantern.
