I'm not yet into high-school (next year... guh), and I'm not yet openly bisexual with the kids at my public school.
Most people there are homophobic and are afraid of anything being 'gay'. I'm the only one in my school that hasn't used the word 'fag' 'gay' 'bi' 'lesbo' etc. as an insult.

Do I go home angry and lost, or do I approach the teacher and say, "Next time that happens, could you maybe do something about it?" And she does.
I shouldn't HAVE to do that, but maybe, for many teachers, that's all it takes.
To answer your question, my school (in Southern California) is very accepting. I hear plenty of "Ugh, that's gay" in reference to non-persons, as in "This test is so gay" etc. but very little of it directed toward people. I'm out with pretty much everyone who knows me, and none of them are homophobic toward me in any way.
