Oh very nice... I do like this. Dana seems like such an interesting girl... I especially like her and Lysander's relationship. I never think about what it would be like to be a child with a deaf parent... probably rather natural... I especially liked Lysander being the over-protective father :)

Glad you liked it! I definitely wanted the relationship between Lysander and Dana to have a good relationship, despite her teenage years, so I'm happy you thought it worked.

This one hit me harder than I thought it would. Perhaps it's because I've read some short stories by a deaf author and Lysander captures some of those struggles.

My favourite part was definitely the first bit where Dana is being born into the world. It's a fairly familiar scene but it's so different because of this deafness. I think it really did a god job setting the tone and atmosphere for the rest of the story.

Thanks for sharing!

I definitely wanted to throw a twist into that whole 'bringing my first child into the world' scene. Who was the author you'd read? I'd be interested in reading some of their stuff.

There was a webcomic for a while about a guy learning sign language so as to impress a girl who was deaf. It was quite different from the normal comic since there were few real speech bubbles.

The author is Myrika (moreta from plagiarismhaven. She does original fiction and did a couple of one-shorts about life as a deaf girl. Unfortunately her works aren't available to the public due to previous plagarism issues so membership is required to read.
