She charmed the dishes to wash themselves while he cleaned his broom and the very act of it was so domestic that she wanted to laugh. If you had told her that she would get slightly above average marks on her NEWTS, become a reserve member for the Chudley Cannons and, in the end, wind up with a man who was not Harry Potter, she would have thought you positively barking. Probably sent you on your way with her patented bat bogey hex as well. Life has a way of easing the little shocks that come with it though.
“Why did you pick me in the end, Viktor?” Ginny asked, in one of her rare, girly moments. The ones where she felt shy and much too exposed to criticism. It was his fault really. If he weren’t so good at making her feel girly, with those simple grins of his, or the way he held her when she was having nightmares from the last battle, she’d probably be much better at holding all of this in.
Viktor paused in the care of his broom, a practice that was almost ritualistic with him. “Name is easier to pronounce,” he teased.
“Oh, shut it,” Ginny said, throwing a dish rag at him.
“No, no, I joke like brothers. I pick you because you are you. Strong and em, what is word…ah, passionate, beautiful, and…name is easy to pronounce. It rolls off tongue nicely. Watch,” he said, before leaning in and kissing her lips. “Ginny,” he said softly before kissing her neck. “Ginny,” he whispered into her right ear before kissing it. And so on, she gasped as light turned to evening and so on.
