I think I am in denial. It's just Cas is one of my favorite characters (if not my favorite) and this just happened. And now I don't know how to feel about it at all.
The breaking of Sam's wall! Oh God, how did I forget that? D8 I'm so confused about this! I'm tired of hating this show, and I don't want to give it up, but fuck. I don't get it!
I just don't understand. This is a terrible cliffhanger. Both about Castiel's going batshit, and Sam's wall and what that means.
DOES CHARACTER ASSASSINATION COUNT AS CHARACTER DEATH? For me it does! Cause that was not Cas. That was some unrecognizable THING wearing Cas. I'm out. I'm not gonna sit through this character fail. And I EFFING called it. I knew this was gonna happen and I'm still like WTF WAS THAT.
I mean the guy was just declaring how deep he felt in the previous damn episode. But they wanted to go back to the Sam and Dean only focus. And yet they didn't want to lose Misha's fanbase. So they think this will placate everyone. UM, NOT SO MUCH.
Gah! I want to believe the writers are going to put Castiel back in the next season. Like Robo!Sam. It might be because I'm not ready to let Castiel go, though. ;-;
If I still trusted the writers, I'd be fine with this development. Unfortunately, I just can't summon much faith in them. The Balthazar bit pissed me off the most. I mean they can explain away the over-the-top pride and all of that on the souls he consumed. But when he killed Balthazar? That was just Cas. And he unemotionally stabs the guy cause he is pissy? This is the same angel that mourned his brothers and sisters that forced him to kill them in self-defense, right?
Okay, so, I've been thinking about Balthazar, and I've figured it out: Castiel just snapped.
Balthazar was his last friend. The last brother in all of existence who knew what his plans were. And Balthazar had said he's stand beside Castiel. And then, like Sam and Dean and Bobby, Balthazar turned against him. And I don't think Castiel could handle that last betrayal. I think it broke him, and Castiel went a bit nutty.
I think it's why he was so otherly and odd and uncaring and mistrusting of Dean's apology. The souls have addled his already unstable mind and broken heart, and Castiel believed that no one was with him, that he was all alone, that no one was his family anymore.
I think, when Castiel is brought back to himself, he's going to be so utterly horrified by what he'd done. It's going to be terrible and heartbreaking.
I now think that Castiel killed Balthazar because his betrayal was the straw that broke the camel's back. Castiel had been so alone throughout everything, and suddenly everyone he'd relied on, felt were his family, thought loved him, have turned on him. Balthazar was just the unlucky bastard who was there to finally make Castiel snap. ;_;
