So I didn't watch tonight's episode... again

Oct 22, 2010 22:52

Mostly because my dad and my brother wanted to play some Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 on the PS3, but also because I just finished writing a Supernatural story with a heavy Twilight influence. (I am so glad it's done and unlocked, you guys have no idea. XD) I wasn't really interested in seeing it, at least, not right now. Later, perhaps.

Spoilers for all of season 6 )

fandom: supernatural, post-episode fangirling, spoilers, fic stuff: polar night, did not watch

Destroying demons by burning their bones is an idea I'd had well before S6 but never used, because I can't convince myself that any version of Sam would cremate Dean post-S3 and for any other demon there would first have to be tracking down the remains. Which, in Crowley's case, was far easier than it had any right to be. For the rest of it, they keep harping on how differently monsters are behaving recently, so 'retcon' might not be the applicable term.

I agree. The burning of demons bones really irked me. I tried to gloss over it because I enjoyed the rest of the ep so much. So to stop YED, all they would have needed to do was find his original name and hunt his bones down? It sure was easy to figure out who Crowley was and find his bones. Why aren't demons everywhere digging up their bones and hiding them? And then tonight the miracle vampire cure that seemingly no one in the world knew about except the Campbells, who kept it some deep, dark secret. Okay ( ... )

I hope this was the end of Lisa/Dean. Though I'm morbidly curious if Dean will mention that he was a vampire or not, or will just let Lisa think he lost his marbles.

Something I've noticed about this season is that there is a retcon in every episode. Seriously. First Djinn could poison people, then Skinwalkers could breed, Angels can buy souls, Demons can be destroyed by burning their bones, and vampirism can be cured.

Tell me about it. It's retcons and fic!ideas. I'm neutral on the angels buying souls thing for now, since selling your soul to Lucifer, while never on the show, is quite a common idea in our collective culture. But the burning of the bones thing irritates me to no end. It puts killing demons into a different mythology than the show has so far. And I hate that Crowley is only 400, which I'm convinced they did just so they'd have bones to find for him.

There is the remote possibility that Crowley lied about who he is ... ::writing the fan fic now::

But I thought his son told them all the details?

Kind of hard how to explain what I'm writing in the fan fic but I do explain it. :)
