Except for the fact that there's a faction of fandom that can't stand him and so many fans don't want the person sitting in the back of the Impala. I think, if Cas doesn't die-die this time, he's going to be human. Which means we'll be lucky if he shows up in one season 6 episode because they won't keep him traveling with them 24/7 and he won't be able to pop in anymore.

I hated Gabriel's death. Hated, hated, hated it.

Regarding the Castiel spoilers, I remember the wording was, 'After another Archangel bites the dust, Castiel faces off against Michael.' I wondered at the time if the archangel that bit the dust would be Gabriel. And ack! why would Cas be facing off against Michael?

My feelings over Gabriel's death are weird. ;_; I hate that he died. I hate how pointless his death was. I hate that the show, once again, brought back a character just to kill 'em off.

But... the way he died... I liked that. In a weird way.

Here's the exact quote:

After another Archangel bites the dust, Castiel takes on Michael-and the battle ends badly for Cass.

FUCK. CAS WHAT ARE YOU DOING? If you're trying to balance it out, Lucifer kills one archangel, so Michael kills two angels, there are better ways, man! ;_;

KRIPKE YOU BASTARD.

Cas is why I'm here. He brought me back, made me love the show, made me care.

Oh god, me too. I'd forgotten that, and now I'm tearing up at... the possibilities.

Ugh everything you said. ;_; I was really trying to cling to the belief that Gabriel was not dead. Until they showed the wing imprints and Lucifer's raction. D= I loved that snarky bastard. And his death was so pointless. On top of that it was the classic 'redemption' quickly followed by death gimmick that happens so often.

I am also terrified for Cas. He made me love the show. I will exist only on a diet of fanwork if Cas is killed in the show. I will stop watching and rely on fic to get by. Fic will make it all better. ;_;

I agree that Gabriel had to be killed off or otherwise denied as an ally to Team Free Will because he was just too powerful.

I'm upset that they went with killed off, but I know it was the most viable option.

I just wish he could have had more of an arc; and that he actually managed to accomplish something more than a rearguard action to let Dean and Sam escape.

And now, I'm really worried that Castiel will get killed trying to take on Michael or something awful like that... :(
