Batman, too, came in from above, crashing through one of the windows on a mid-level floor and rolling once before coming to his feet. He began fighting instantaneously, not pausing to even to regain his equilibrium, take in the environment or number of enemies or anything. Simply went straight into a high kick that slammed directly into the nearest criminals face with a resounding crunch of cartridge.

He didn't stop there. His combat was brutally efficient, and just plain brutal. It was obviously the wrong time of day to mess with the Bat. He didn't kill though, of course. He swept away weapons, dodged bullets, and generally just did as much nonlethal damage around him as humanly possible. He was doing a fairly good job when the other two arrived on his floor. Without breaking stride he simply took them for advantage.

"...The instigator of all this mess is one floor below if my calculations are correct. As you don't look like the rest of this rabble, I'm assuming you're here to help. Fine. There's plenty to go around. Now start ( ... )

Even with the SWAT teams cracking down on the station, they would be useless in catching the Joker or putting an end to his game. Hooray for a live studio audience. This is, after all, a very special occasion-it isn't every day the Bat comes out before nightfall.

"My, what team players! For those of you watching at home, we're going to play a guessing game. I have five detonators in front of me, each labeled with a number and the name of a bank. If our contestants can guess which name is behind which number, I'll let that bank go. So who will be the lucky winner? Will it be Bank of America, JPMorgan, Bank One, Citibank, or the Chase Manhattan? Will it be the one with your savings? There's only one way to find out."

It can be assumed, thanks to the process of elimination, that there will be at least one bank left standing in the end.

"Now let's play! My lovely assistant-" that's you, Harley "-will choose a number one through five and our First Contestant-" ...Green Teen Robot? "-will take a guess. Harley, a number one through five ( ... )

Harley blew the Batman a kiss in response to his glare. That suit was pretty hot... but she preferred someone with a bit more fashion sense. She danced around so that there was film equipment between her and the group of heroes, making any attempts to catch her just that much more difficult.

And then she all but melted when her puddin' addressed her. She did her best Vana White impression as she sparkled from the attention.

"Numbeeeeeeeeeeeeer THREE!" She smiled, leaned forward towards the camera nearest her giving the audience a great view of her cleavage, and held up three fingers.

The Princess didn't really care one way or another how this day would end because she was not technically a resident here. She did however, after watching every other person in the room begin to buckle themselves down for battle assume that it might not all go according to plan, but then again, that's what made the game fun ( ... )

Two things were going to happen. Brainiac 5's hand and fingers extended, discreetly into the nearby cables and broadcasting technology, initiating direct access to the feed. He sent the information he had recieved from the Joker, now, to the local law enforcement. Secondly, he was sending the information straight to the grid in a plea for assistance in getting the banks evacuated in time. Behind him, he heard a voice, another one civilian? He glanced behind him, glancing to Batman first, as if to reassure them. His real objective was to send off the other, in case they were responding to his earlier alert or just a tourist. He shot the man a look, if his cellular phone was hooked up to the network he had sent the message on, he should be getting a new one. [ooc: see phase_grid for details ( ... )

As he watches the small screen of the portable television, cellphone glued to his ear, a face so familiar appears in the frame. He's almost as excited to see her as he was to see the Batman and when he addresses her, the grin is very much evident in his voice.

"Well, look who it is. Be my guest, Princess." The more, the merrier. He observes from his side of the screen as the Princess joins the other contestants, listening while Contestant Number One asks his question.

Historical legacy? While no one would see it, this does put a few wrinkles of confusion in the Joker's forehead. However, the thought of having such a "legacy" was strangely not that new to him. The image of a woman comes to mind, just fleeting. A woman in a wheel chair. She'd told him of things he'd done to her that had never happened, of an alternate version of himself terrorizing Gotham. This thought process lasts just seconds before it's thoroughly squashed. On to more exciting matters.

"Me? Oh, this isn't about what I hope to gain, no. This is all about you. You ( ... )

Hiro's phone vibrates and he looks at it, nodding in satisfaction at the warning. Hopefully the civilians will get out in time, though he is uncertain how many of these teleporters there are in any one of the banks. Perhaps he should speak to the green man.

He stops time.

He steps over to Brainac and lays a gentle hand on his shoulder, releases time for the merest of seconds, then refreezes it. Only now Brainiac isn't frozen.

"How can I help?"

Shocked to find the world around him frozen, he turned at the touch and whirled around. It was him! He had this man read completely wrong, a hostage, or a reckless news reporter. But not only did he teleport here, but it seemed as though he could stop time as well ( ... )

Unaware of the lapse in time, the Joker stands before a large window, gazing out over the city. The portable TV rests on a nearby desk. Cradled in his palm is detonator #3, thumb and forefinger of his other hand squeezing a key, ready to twist.

His voice reaches the studio, "That's... incorrect! Say goodbye to Chase Manhattan." The key turns.

Hiro appears at Chase Manhattan and takes a look at the bomb. It's a rather strange-looking contraption, but, knowing the Joker, its bizarre appearance only makes it more lethal.

He freezes time and grabs the device. Without thinking, he first teleports outside the bank, then thinks fly at the ring. He takes off into the air, backwards. "Up, ring, up!!"

He finally is hurtling up at great speeds, as he starts to get cold, he tosses the bomb away from him. He teleports back to the ground, shivering. He loses his grip on time and the bomb explodes high above them.

At the turn of the key, a single flash of orange explodes high in the sky directly above where it should have been. The bomb is unable to cause any damage at its altitude, but it is still very loud. Loud enough to gently rattle the window pane inches beyond the Joker's nose with its repercussion. Could it have actually been his bomb? His eyes trail straight down to the buildings below. No flames, no smoke cloud. Hmm.

Something is up and it shouldn't be his bomb. For the moment he isn't sure what to make of it and he's very curious to know whether the same will happen to the other bombs. One hand on the phone at his ear, he discards the used detonator and turns back to the television. All four contestants are still there.

"Harley, another number." The previous tone of enthusiasm in his voice has been replaced with one of puzzled curiosity.

This was so not far. Harley's hip jutted out to the side and she placed her hand on it. Her posture and expression was dripping with attitude and she looked very unhappy.

"But Mistah J, they're cheating! They got the green guy who looks pretty smart and Batman never plays fair, and then the cute one doesn't even look like he knows what's going on--- ... and who is she!?" She pouted, staring at the Princess. She looked more like the wicked witch of the west in her early years but without the skin condition.

Bet she has warts.

"If I pick the rest of the numbers, do I get to go home with you, Puddin'? I'm doin' good, right? All this chaos and stuff..."

Harley really sounded defeated and the game had only begun. Apparently bouncing around and drilling into people's heads takes a lot of energy... and Harley was running low.

Her face was now pleading with the lens of the camera with her lower lip puffed out and her eyes completing the perfect puppy dog look.

"Aww, of course you can." Lie. His patience is beginning to wear thin. "Now go on. Contestant Number Two is waiting." And yes, he does get a little kick out of referring to the Batman as Number Two.

While straightening Harley out, Joker doesn't quite realize when the Princess slips away from the camera, but he will. Just give him a second. Upon noticing, he won't draw attention to it, plenty satisfied with tormenting the other unwilling three. He'll just conclude that she's off doing her own thing. As for Hiro, he hadn't realized the man was ever there to begin with since Hiro had been just off screen. Oh, the disadvantage of being remote.

"Okey dokey, Puddin'. How aboooout... FIVE!?" Harley's smile returned. She obviously believed the lie... actually, she believed anything the Joker told her. Batman received a raised eyebrow and a tap of her dainty little foot.

"Place your bets, gentlemen."

Though her attention was currently on the men in the room, her mind was pulsing with jealous thoughts and questions about the woman that had left.

Hiro reappears behind Batman. It's nice having such a tall man with a floor length cape to keep anyone from seeing him. He frowns a bit when he realizes there is a woman missing, but he figures that she has gone off to do something or perhaps gone to let the authorities in. He waits for Batman's answer before he goes to move the next bomb.
