[Complex] Roommates. Who Woulda Thought?

Who: Jeremie, Hilde
Where: The residential/leisure areas.
When: After leaving Duo's apartment in this thread.
Summery: Jeremie and Hilde look for places to stay and end up becoming roommates.
Notes: Hilde-mun and I thought it'd be awesome. That and the potential for occasional humor is too good to pass up.

"It certainly matters, let's find the best one we can! It'll show Duo up." A mischievous grin marked her face. "Just picking one sounds good enough for me." She looked back and forth at doors, then suddenly dove at one, unlatching the handle and stepping inside. She was in for just a minute and then out again. "One bedroom, window view looks like crap." she grumbled.

"Hmm, how about-- this one." She repeated the process, yielding another single apartment. "Guess not." She rubbed her chin with her hand.

"They must be laid out in some kind of pattern. Let's check out the ones on your side of the hall." Hilde though to herself that she didn't appreciate the unlived-in feel of the hallway. Oh well, just another thing to touch up, if in fact they were going to be living here.

"What do we think of this one?"

Jeremie had stared at the enthusiasm Hilde had thrown into searching for a place to sleep. It had really made little difference to him. A place to sleep was a place to sleep, right? Who cared about--

Her "window view" comment forced his train of thought to jump the rails. He put a hand over his mouth, trying to hold back the smile and laugh that threatened to escape.

He took a peek inside the apartment. "Another single." He then gazed curiously at her. "Why's that a problem?"

Hilde stopped dead in her tracks, spinning on her heels to look at the blond. "Oh." she giggled "Oh yeah, right. Um... I was thinking. Would you... perhaps consider being my roommate?" She looked at him earnestly, hoping this wasn't to bold a move that might frighten him off.

She actually surprised herself with the question. She normally didn't open up to people this quickly. But she couldn't deny a certain camaraderie with Jeremie, she felt comfortable with him, and as such felt a need to keep tabs on his safety.

Jeremie liked the older woman but hadn't allowed himself to feel such a connection. He'd already been hurt by people he'd cared about and didn't want to open himself up to that again.

That and the minute XANA took control, she'd probably have to take him out.

...That probably shouldn't have been a pleasant thought.

Mentally shaking such morbid thoughts from his mind, he said, "Um...okay." However, his expression became more curious as he asked, "Why me? I woulda thought you would ask Duo..."
