Hilde was lingering in Gotham, having taken quite a liking to the city on her first visit. It was still night and therefore, dangerous here. But she came armed this time and really didn't feel too threatened. Curious was the more appropriate term for the moment.

She had caught the dark form running and hopping rather adeptly across rooftops. He... was it a he? He looked rather built, or just buffed up in that outfit. And... was that a cape? Huh?

Was this Gotham for real? "...Batman?" Hilde spoke without much thought, the first name she thought of coming between her parted lips in wonder and slight disbelief.

The Batman was not one to stop simply because his name was whispered as he passed overhead as a mere shadow in the night. It was a common enough occurrence that his mind paid no attention. In fact, it was something of vague amusement and only a little interest; it meant he was doing his job, in a sense. His name whispered in the shadows. A fleeting sighting; was it real? Should I be scared? He hoped that whoever it was that whispered those words--word?--was scared. Scared enough not to do anything stupid while he was watching ( ... )

Hilde had lost him for an instant but caught him once he came to a stop. She followed his path, down on the street, looking up in wonder, awe, and disbelief. There was really a man in a black cape, was he just standing over the city like... like some kind of hero? Was he really... The Batman? Hilde probably shouldn't have been this out of sorts over it, but she was between knowing this was absolutely impossible and knowing this was probably very possible, given The Ring.

Still, she waited around watching him. Those ears... that facemask and the body-builder suit....

He might see her out of his peripheral, slowly walking up to where he had stopped and leaning back against the handrail of an apartment building stoop. She folded her arms and muttered quietly to herself. "It just doesn't seem real.. could he really be Batman?"

The Batman closed his eyes for a second, listening, but not for long. In the interim he didn't seem to loose the girl's position in the least. He stood stock still for the longest of moments, perhaps longer than even it would take for the girl below to get impatient then bored and finally lose interest altogether and walk away.

However, he did finally move before she got the chance if that were true. He didn't seem in a hurry when he did so. The Bat moved deliberately to the edge of the building and then slowly crouched.

His eyes watched keenly on the woman below, not hiding in the shadows in the least at the moment, a purposeful act on his part to show her his casual interest in her.

After ditching his rabid adorer, the Joker was off once again to see where this mix-and-match city would throw him next. Presently, he was standing in an empty elevator alone with his Smith & Wesson M76 held in one hand at his side. The down arrow had taken him to a cell in Arkham. Now it was time to see where the up arrow went. To keep himself occupied through the ride, he rocked his weight from foot to foot and rolled his head, pulling at the kinks in the base of his neck. He was getting impatient. Always getting impatient. This time, at least, the trip was much shorter than before ( ... )

Dick swung in low, kicking the grenade higher to throw off its tragectory before it exploded in the air littering the ground with bits of smoldering shrapnel but minimizing the injuries that would have been if it had struck ground. This wasn't his Gotham, too narrow in spaces..too many places unfamilar, but it was Gotham none the less. The smog choking into his lungs as he took in a deep breath of air throwing his body into an almost graceful upward arch towards the building the Grenade had been so stupidly dropped from. Wind ripped through Raven hair as the tell-tale whistle of cable on tubing echoed through the pollutant choked air as the vigilante sent out a jumpline to the roof. ~ they need me here ( ... )

((Actually solved a problem of mine, so that's great. Moving onwards, finally~~!))The sound of an explosion was what caught the Batman's attention and he snapped around as it echoed through the city. It had come from south of him, too far away for him to actually see what damage it had caused with all the buildings between him and there from this particular position. He took wing, first heading in what appeared to be the wrong direction to catch an uplift from the thermal he knew circled around the monorail and neighboring highway in the area. He circled a few times like a bird of prey, gaining altitude enough to be well beyond the range of the more bothersome skyscrapers before moving off in the right direction ( ... )

The bomb exploded far from where he'd estimated it to land. And far too close. However, the sleek, black figure he'd caught in his peripheral vision sweeping up toward the top of the building answered everything. Another vigilante. Not Robin this time, nor was it the Batman, but certainly a Gothamite. Head and shoulders thrust out the elevator doors, the Joker craned his neck and squinted upward, scaling what he could of the building above with his eyes. But to no avail. He couldn't see anything but windows and hazy, black sky. Another grenade would do the trick.

The Joker was just about to reach into his inner coat pocket again when something hit him with the force of a speeding truck. He hadn't even seen it coming, still too distracted in his search for the night's first vigilante, though it was moving so fast he probably wouldn't have seen it coming anyway. But already, he knew exactly just what-who-this was that was now slamming his body so hard against the back wall that the entire elevator shuddered in place, its lights ( ... )

Batman stared at the blond boy blandly for a soft moment of silence. Memories that he couldn't quite put his finger on, couldn't quite recall clearly. It not only annoyed him but frustrated the hell out of him. Somehow he knew this boy; he just wished he knew from where. Or...was that what?

His head tilted slightly to one side before he answered. "...Yes."

Batman crossed his arms over his chest. "I was at home." Well, in his city which was the same thing all things considered. Now he really did know something odd was going on here. And he did know this young man.

Unfortunately, despite his eidetic memory he still could not place the blond.

"...I just arrived. I presume the initial complex will suffice if I find nothing better." He was still exploring his new surroundings.
