It's the end of the year

Dec 31, 2013 12:00

And I'm in the office with nothing to do and praying that they'll let me leave early.

Can I take 5 minutes to write down a more-than-likely very unpopular opinion?
I HATE the end of the year ( Read more... )

So glad you wrote that sweetie, as that's exactly how I see things...New Year's so overrated and if Hans wouldn't want to visit one of his friends, I'd happily curl up on the sofa, pop in a DVD and watch the fireworks come midnight. I just don't get why the rest of the world is so exicted....

Anyway, that aside...if you can make it home and to the post office on time you might get something to chear you up a bit...at least that's what my internet tracking is telling me. ^^

Luv you lots. <3

Hey sweetie!!
Happy New Year! ♥ ♥ ♥
Did you have a nice New Year's Eve?
All in all I did, went to the movies and I'm going again today XD

Aww, sweetie!!! ♥ ♥ ♥
But..But.. But... 'm still waiting for YOUR ADDRESS! Not fair!
Unfortunately I fear that I didn't make it home on time :(
But knowing how our postal services work, I doubt they worked for more than half a day yesterday :\
I think Germany posts hates us... I ordered some stuff for a birthday present in October from a German site and I still didn't receive it! >_<

Love you!

Here, we might go see fireworks or something. Or stay home. God bless the USA, we're such couch potatoes that we even have traditional New Years TV programs. Just tell everyone you are having an American-style New Years.

Happy New Year, hun! ♥ ♥ ♥

I think I wanna move to your country, sounds like my kind of New Years' Eve XD
Here you don't even get encouragement in staying at home, the shows on our tv are so bad, all here long XD

What did you do in the end?

Oh, it was pretty much same as ever. Bought some groceries. Talked to my mom on the phone. Skyped. Yay for those days we don't have to meet someone else's arbitrary demands on how we spend our time!

Happy New Year!

I say don't worry about people's silly expectations about going out and partying. Who cares if they bug you about it and act pitying? That's their problem, not yours. If you make it clear it's your ideal New Year's, that turns them into the bad guy for raining on your parade. Some of my favourite New Year's Eves have been sitting at home playing video games with a nice spread of food.

Life is too short to waste time doing the socially expected thing.

Happy New Year Sin! ♥ ♥ ♥

I've tried that but in the end I can't help but feel bad, at least in the moment...
But oh well, in the end I compromised and went to the movies for the first part of the evening, then I waited midnight at home with my parents and grandma :)

What did you do?
Hope you had a lovely one, and even lovelier day (and year!) ahead of you!

Well, I hope you get a quiet one next year then, although it sounds like you had a nice time this year at least. It can be hard to begin with, but every time that it's worth it, it gets easier and easier to ignore other people's judgements. It's just another form of peer pressure.

I'm in Tokyo right now, so went out to Tokyo Tower and Zozoji temple. It had a very festive atmosphere, lots of traditional music and street food and the ringing of the gong at midnight. Had some takoyaki and yakitori and soft serve ice-cream, then came back to the apartment and watched various Japanese New Year Specials.
