Quick comment on the skin rash - you might try an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream. The odd time I've had contact dermatitis (which is what this sounds like), it cleared up the rash very quickly and also helped greatly with the itching.

I'm glad (to put it mildly) that your reaction time to the brake/accelerator mishap was so quick. *admires* It does sound terrifying though.

And ITA about travelling whilst you can. I didn't travel as much as I would have liked when I was younger, and now I have a husband that dislikes travelling. So -- even if I take trips on my own, it's still necessary to negotiate a certain bit. So, yeah: enjoy your freedom!

I think I might run into Boots this morning and see what I can find. Thanks for the tip.

Well, the pedals are right next to each other (it's a weeny little car and the pedals are further offset to the left that is properly comfortable. That said, I love it more than you'd ever think it's possible to love a ton of flammable metal on wheels) which was both the cause of hitting the wrong one and what made it so easy to get back to the right one. And while it did make the car leap, there's only a certain amount of leaping a 60bhp car can do.

Oh, I'm enjoying it. As a shy, silent child, it frequently seems impossible that I could have gone off to these places on my own. My teachers would be astonished. Not those who knew about me and Annie going to the toe of Italy on our own aged 14 to meet total strangers etc or the one who rather reluctantly left me in Paris, also aged 14, with the exchange family while the rest of the trip got the ferry home... I guess I got this sort of thing instilled in me at a pretty young age.

I've wanted to go to Norway for ages. I am so envious! I hope you will enjoy it, and take many pics to share.

And I hope your itchiness gets under control soon. xx

I took four hundred this trip (I'll whittle that down to under fifty before I post them here) and I imagine the Norwegian scenery is going to be even more spectacular. I need to invest in a bigger card for my camera. That said, I know for certain there's wifi in my hotels this time and I'm putting luggage in the hold so I'm definitely taking my netbook. It's unbelievable how much technology has moved on - two years ago, I wouldn't have dreamed of such things. So there can be photos as I go along.

I'll speak to the lovely pharmacists since we're always being advised to ask them rather than bother doctors. I think it tends to be worse at night - it's maybe not as red but it's twice as itchy. Damn foam.
