Day 19 - Something You Regret, in great detail

This one's easy. There's one thing that really stands out in my memory. When I was fifteen or so, I answered my sister's phone while she was out. Her best friend on the other end asked to speak to her and said she'd called about three times. Joking, I said "Oh, she doesn't want to be friends with you any more!" Said best friend took me seriously.

I do get that it's company policy to always have a French speaker in the office in case a customer calls. We have a new French boy who isn't in this equation because he's only been here about three weeks and has never met Mandy and the idea was that he stayed while the rest of us went out but he's using his last holiday hours from the 17th onwards so he's not around that last week. I wouldn't mind but the number of French calls we've had at lunchtime in the last nearly three years I can count on the fingers of one hand. And no one's going to phone the lunchtime of the last day!

I read that, went "Whu?!" and then was dragged into a meeting, which I spent wondering if I'd misread something. To be fair, conversation was continued later that day when Daisy got back from wherever she'd been and immediately went "[Phantym] should stay. I can man the phones if need be" and then Curly volunteered to do it but... I don't even care anymore. I see Mandy regularly, it makes sense for me to be the one who stays behind.
