I think the most interesting part was the experience of perceived eternity as my body uncurled and reached for all to hold on as I hung in the air.
It is very curious, but I think that all humans react on primal levels to danger, it just depends on whether the primal level you've reached is also human or not.
I've done something similar. My boyfriend tossed me into a pool and jumped in after me. I'm surprised he doesn't still have the clawing scars. He started cooing at me soothingly and refered to me as his little kitten. Other times I find myself where I can't not leap into the water and paddle around. I still wonder if I'm not part dog as well.
Heh, on the topic of clawing people while in a pool--I used to have epic pool fights with all my male cousins, protecting myself and one of my only female cousins from being teasingly bruised up. I won those fights, as no one enjoys having claw marks all over their water-soft skin.
I actually quite like the water--just not when I'm apt to be soaking wet for the rest of the day, like I was that day.
I can understand that. Although considering the times I've nearly drowned, I should probably be terrified of water as well. I seem to just not be terrified of things I should be--like dogs, especially as my own dog attacked me when I was very young. *shrugs*
