I started watching teen wolf thanks to bending_sickle who convinced me.  Here are my thoughts:

Yay! I started watching Teen Wolf recently too. :) I'm 2/3 through Season 2 though (they are short seasons!)

I don't care for Derek very much either, lol. In my opinion he does not really gain much of a personality, he is kind of just there to move the plot along (and be pretty).

I started watching it because I read that they were awesome about having minority/gay characters, but I haven't seen much of that which is disappointing! I do like how they treat the gay character like it's no big deal, but there are not many minority characters, even in the background lol.

Scott is a doofus. But eventually he becomes a lovable sort of doofus.

Stiles is the BEST. And yeah I shipped Sterek before I even saw the show because tumblr was posting them EVERYWHERE.

Also because Scott/Whatsherface Hunter-Family-Chick is boring already. It's ep 2 and they already got together? Where's the tension people? - That's Allison Argent. They try to put in some relationship drama but yeah, season one is also about their luuuurv.

Derek seems kind of.... characterless right now. He's mainly standing in the background looking broody, and occasionally shoving Scott up against things. Fingers crossed he grows a personality later on. - Season one, he's very much one-note "grr, argh" but he gets better in season two. He's still very closed-off, though. (I really like him, but it's more a matter of wondering just what the hell is going on behind that poker face.)

And yes, Stiles is ridiculously adorable.

Does Stiles ever get a girlfriend? OR will my ship sail undisturbed? - Word of God says that he'll "never have luck with girls" (paraphrasing a bit) and also that they've left hints that he (could be) bisexual. Also, they're very well aware of the ship ;) So fandom is given little Sterek moments and allowed to have high hopes.
