I just finished Close Contact by Katherine Allred, and realized there is actually a genre for science fiction romance! Ka-ching! I've found my niche! Now I just need to write.

If the story's gonna have space travel there should definitely be space pirates. And/or giant mechs.

I like the idea of kind of a firefly-esc universe. One that's trying to function but isn't quite, and it's in space and there are cool space ships.
