The other day, there was this pretty big power outage brought on by a squirrel blowing out a transformer. It's not as funny as it sounds. Apparently, it happened right outside of where I was at the time. I was in the computer lab and I heard this mechanical roar, like a air-conditioner-turned-swirling-vortex-of-doom, coming from outside. I was sitting at the computer closest to the door. I felt a little alarmed, thinking some kind of monster from Cloverfield was going to run in from behind. Then the power went out. That didn't make me feel any safer. To make matters worse, this emergency alarm went off and no one knew what it was telling us to do. Were we supposed to evacuate or lock the doors? Instead, we stayed as we were: doors open, sitting at the unresponsive computers. The lights came back on and everyone was pissed off that they didn't save their work before the power outage. You know, at the time, I had no idea that that noise from outside was the sound of the squirrel getting electrocuted. That's pretty messed up.
